With the recent horrific explosion that shocked Beirut 11 days ago-in addition to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and a worsening economic/financial crisis-, our brothers and sisters in Lebanon have to bear the heavy cross of rebuilding their homes, churches, hospitals, and livelihood.
The images of destruction, pain, and loss of life that have been circulating the media have sent shock waves throughout the world. We are calling on all of our community members to do their part to support the rebuilding efforts of our brothers and sisters in Lebanon. The great Apostle Paul reminds us of our duty as Christians when he says: "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." (Galatians 6:2)
Any and all donations will be sent directly to our Archdiocese, that is working to send them securely to the Archdiocese of Beirut, under the auspices of His Eminence Metropolitan Elias, for distribution to needy families and St. George Orthodox Hospital that suffered severe damage as a result of the explosion.
If you would like to donate towards this effort, you can send in donations to St. George Cathedral (please write "Beirut Relief Fund" in the Memo). You can also donate by clicking on the button below.
Please keep the people of Lebanon in your prayers as they begin the process of rebuilding. We trust that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will raise them from the ashes of destruction as He rose from the dead.
